January 6, 2010 and later…
Trails are being groomed every day unless otherwise noted here.
January 3, 2010
Sam from Waterville Parks and Rec groomed yesterday and will be out this morning for more. Expect some really nice skiing with about 14″ of new snow that has fallen between Friday and today.
Please note: Walking and dogs welcome on the Quarry Road (the trail that is very straight and wide, visible from the parking lot.) Skiers only on the 4.5K “river loop”. Check out the map at the kiosk for complete details.
January 2, 2010
Welcome to 2010. We are in the midst of a nice snowfall that should make skiing absolutely perfect at Quarry Road. Parks and Rec will be out early on Monday and skiers should expect 4.5k of skiing on packed and tracked trails by midday. For the weekend, expect the new snow to be unpacked, but so far accumulations have been light and the skiing should still be great!
Please note: Walking and dogs welcome on the Quarry Road. Skiers only on the 4.5K “river loop”. Check out the map at the kiosk for complete details.
December 22, 2009
Quarry Road is groomed. Skiing is fast and pretty good. Classic track likely if we get enough snow tonight and tomorrow. Snowshoe/walking/dog trail (the straight trail on the old road) groomed and open as well.
January 30, 2009
Quarry Road, Colby and North Street all groomed. Classic track at North Street. Classic track will be set at Quarry Road by 10AM Saturday. Expect wonderful conditions this weekend!
January 20, 2009
Expect near-perfect conditions by this afternoon at Quarry Road, North Street and Colby. The weekend storm provided some really beautiful snow for skiing.
January 8, 2009
Quarry Road and North Street groomed. Colby groomed.  We will start setting tracks on Quarry Road and North Street soon for those who prefer classic skiing. Also note that they were able to get the new drag over the rough bridge on Quarry Road into the meadow. If all goes according to plan, in the future this meadow will be the site of a lodge, open area for skiing, and the start/finish area for all of the trails. Looking up at the old Colby Ski Hill and down onto Messalonskee Stream, I think you’ll agree that it holds incredible beauty.
Take a ski tour or snowshoe to check it out, but please use caution when Quarry Road starts to get rough and across the snowmobile bridge.
If you see walkers on the Quarry Road or North Street trails, please encourage them to walk to the side. On the Colby trails, walkers are not allowed during winter months.
January 5, 2009
North Street, Quarry Road, and Colby were all groomed today.  Skiing is good at all venues.
December 30, 2008
North Street area groomed. 1+ kilometer loop across North Street playing fields, along the stream, next to the swimming pool, then back up the hill to the playground. Skate groomed only, no classic track. Very good conditions with one minor bare spot on the river trail (in the center, ski to the side to avoid.)
Counter-clockwise skiing is recommended.
